What does the State of Ohio require? (top)
The State of Ohio requires everyone under the age of 18 to take 24 hours of classroom and 8 hours of driving. To learn more about the State of Ohio's driving laws Click Here.

When can I start the class? (top)
A person must be 15 years and 5 months old.

Are your instructors licensed? (top)
The State of Ohio requires instructors to complete a 40-hour course of instruction. The State also checks their driving record and fingerprints for any criminal record. Most of our instructors are college graduates and have some teaching certificates from the State Board of Education.

How is the class taught? (top)
We teach classroom the old fashioned way, with the instructor leading a discussion lecture on different teaching topics and using videotapes on topics that cannot be taught easily.

Do they have to take all 6 classes in a row? (top)
NO! There is a calendar in the classroom and the scheduling office that shows which classes are offered on each day. The classes are independent of each other so you can make your own schedule. Each student must attend all 6 classes.

How do you get your temps? (top)
You must take to the License Bureau your original Birth Certificate, Social Security Card, Second form of ID, Parent or Legal Guardian to the Exam Station first and take the test. Then take the receipt to the License Bureau and purchase your temps.

How do you make an appointment for driving? (top)
When you are finished with all the classes and have your temporary license, call the Bick’s Office.

How many students are in the car? (top)
Commercial driving schools are allowed a second student in the car long enough to take the first student home.

How long is each in car lesson? (top)
The majority of our lessons are 2 hours.

Where does the student meet the instructor for driving? (top)
Our instructor picks up the student a home or at school. After the lesson the student is taken home, unless other arrangements are made or you live outside the territory.

How do you get your license? (top)
At the end of driving you receive a Certificate of Completion. Then you call the Testing Station and make a Road Test appointment.

Can you use Bick’s car for the road test? (top)
YES, for an additional fee. You call Bick’s to find out available times. Then call the testing station and make your appointment. Please call us and let us know the time and date.

Do you need insurance when driving? (top)
Bick’s has insurance that covers the car while students are taking driving lessons.
